Antes de museo, el Reina Sofía sirvió como Hospital General. Mucha gente perecía en sus dependencias y, quienes no tenían seres queridos que reclamasen los cuerpos, eran enterrados bajo el subsuelo. Pocos lugares en la capital de España han recogido tantos comentarios de testigos que se han atemorizado ante el paso de las figuras fantasmales de tres monjas, que después se supo sus huesos yacían bajo la entrada principal del actual museo. Uno de sus “fantasmas” tiene nombre, Ataulfo, que ha dejado su huella en incontables ocasiones, incluyendo sesiones de espiritismo que, según sus participantes, atrajeron la atención de numerosos espíritus que se dice vagan por las galerías del Reina Sofía.
The ghosts of the Reina Sofía Hotel
Before museum, the Reina Sofia served as General Hospital. Many people were dying in its rooms and, those who did not have dear beings who were claiming the bodies, were buried under the basement. Few places in the capital of Spain have gathered so many witnesses' comments that have got frightened before the steps of the ghostly figures of three nuns, which later knew their bones were lying under the main entry of the current museum. One of these "ghosts" has a name, Ataulfo, who has left his fingerprint in countless occasions, including meetings spiritualisms that, according to the participants, attracted the attention of numerous spirits that it is said they stroll around the galleries of the Reina Sofia.

El pueblo entero se convirtió en un campo de batalla y se estima que en tan solo 15 días murieron hasta 3.000 personas. Tanto los combatientes como los vecinos del pueblo sólo se lamentaban, espantado, preguntándose a sí mismos que les iba a pasar, que iba a ser de ellos.
Todo indica que esas almas atormentadas y esos lamentos espeluznantes aún permanecen atrapados en sus ruinas. se ha llegado a conseguir grabar psicofonías realmente terroríficas. Éstas son estremecedoras, recreando la guerra o mejor dicho como si la guerra aún continuase para ellos, una guerra sin fin, una guerra que aún hoy podemos escuchar. En ellas aún se escucha el dolor, se siente la desesperación... Rumores aseguran haber notado extrañas presencias. Otras leyendas de la época dicen haber visto formas fantasmales vagando por el pueblo.
La mayor muestra de la maldición de Belchite son la gran cantidad de psicofonías conseguidas allí: desde voces humanas que gritan, súplicas de ayuda o de piedad o, incluso, un avión dejando soltar una bomba y el estruendo de la misma. Pero entre todas las leyendas que existen del pueblo de Belchite, hay una que es extremadamente terrorífica: Se cuenta que un grupo de parapsicólogos había ido a Belchite a investigar e intentar grabar algo realmente escalofriante.
The entire village turned into a battlefield and it thinks that in only 15 days, up to 3,000 persons died. Both the soldiers and the neighbors of the village only were complaining, frightened, wondering what was going to happen to them.
Everything indicates that these tormented souls and these horrifying laments still remain caught in his ruins. It has been managed to record really terrifying psychophonies. These are horrifying, recreating the war or rather as if the war still was continuing for them, a war without end, a war to that still today we can listen. In them still the pain is listened, the desperate feels... Rumors assure to have noticed strange presences. Other legends of the epoch say to have seen ghostly forms strolling around the village.
The proof of Belchite's curse is the great quantity of psychophonies obtained there: from human voices that shout, petitions of help or of piety or, even, a plane stopping to give up a bomb and the uproar of the same one. But among all the legends that exist of the village of Belchite, there is one that is extremely scary: a group of parapsychologists went to Belchite to investigate and try to record something really chilling.
Después de pasear por el pueblo buscando sitios inquietantes dónde empezar a grabar, se decidieron por la iglesia ya que ésta había sido la prisión improvisada de los soldados cogidos del otro bando. Entraron y antes de empezar las grabaciones oyeron una voz masculina que, con un fuerte acento baturro, decía “Sacadme de aquí...Sacadme de aquí...¡¡SACADME DE AQUÍ!!
Emocionados, todo el grupo empezó a enchufar las grabadoras y a tomar notas, haciendo caso omiso de lo que la voz les decía. Fue en ese preciso instante cuando la misma voz, con un tono enojado e impaciente, empezó a gritarles que se fueran. "¡¡Largo de aquí!! ¡¡LARGO!!"Alarmados, todos abandonaron la iglesia. Un trozo de techo se desplomó, justo encima del lugar donde habían estado grabando...
After walking along the village looking for worrying sites where to start recording, they ageed on the church since this one had been the unexpected prison of the soldiers taken. They entered and before beginning the recordings they heard a masculine voice that, with a strong Aragonese accent was saying " Take me out... Take me out... TAKE ME OUT!!
Scared, the whole group started plugging the tape recorders and taking notes, ignoring what the voice was saying to them. It was in this precise instant when the same voice, with an angry and impatient tone started shouting that they went away. "Clear off!! CLEAR OFF!! "
Alarmed, they all left the church. A chunk of ceiling collapsed, just on the place where they had been recording...
Hoy día el pueblo está desierto, sin vida. Sólo están las ruinas tal y como quedaron después de aquella guerra civil de 1936, y se han rodado películas en su paisaje relacionada con aquel hecho histórico.
Al parecer tenemos muchos más pueblos fantasmas en nuestro país de los que pensamos... curioso.
Today the village is desert, lifeless. Only ruins remain after that civil war of 1936, and movies have been shot in his landscape related to that historical fact. Apparently we have many more ghost villages in our country that we may think... curious.
