An important celebration: Mother's Day / Una celebración importante: El Día de la Madre

Todo comenzó en la antigua Grecia, cuando los griegos rendían tributo a Rhea, para ellos una diosa y madre de otros dioses. Con el paso del tiempo, los cristianos transformaron esta fiesta en un tributo que honoraba a la Virgen María.

El tiempo ha ido transcurriendo y la celebración del Día de la Madre ha variado según las costumbres de cada país. Por ejemplo, en varios países se celebra el segundo domingo del mes de mayo, en otros como Panamá, se celebra el día 8 de diciembre.

Cada país también tiene orígenes distintos sobre cómo se inició la celebración, como es el caso de EEUU, donde se originó por la sugerencia que realizó Julia Ward Howe, responsable del Himno de batalla de la República en 1872. Julia solicitó conmemorar esta fecha y honrar a la paz. Lo importante es que a pesar de tener distintos orígenes, todas las conmemoraciones desembocan en un mismo propósito, homenajear a las madres.

Una madre representa el comienzo de la vida, la protección, la esperanza y la alegría, ser madre es algo tan valioso, tan importante, tan hermoso y tan necesario que debe ser una fiesta ensalzada al máximo exponente, otorgándole la importancia que se merece.

Y en este día se les suele dar un detalle o regalo a las madres como muestra de cariño y de amor hacia ellas ya que es su día ya que se tienen que sentir muy queridas por sus hijos, maridos, familia etc. o sino simplemente con una buen abrazo y una par de besos también estaría igual de bien.

It all began in ancient Greece, when the Greeks paid tribute to Rhea, for them a goddess and mother of gods. Over time, Christians transformed this party honored a tribute to the Virgin Mary.

Time has been lapsing and the celebration of Mother's Day has varied according to the customs of each country. For example, in several countries the second Sunday of May, in others such as Panama, held on December 8 is celebrated.
Each country also has different origins on how the celebration began, as is the case of the US, where it originated at the suggestion made by Julia Ward Howe, head of The Battle Hymn of the Republic in 1872. Julia asked commemorate this day and honor peace. The important thing is that despite having different backgrounds, all commemorations end in the same way, to pay tribute to mothers.
 
A mother represents the beginning of life, protection, hope and joy, being a mother is something so valuable, so important, so beautiful and so it must be a celebration , giving it the importance it deserves.

And on this day a gift is often given to mothers as a sign of affection and love as it is their day as they have to feel very much loved by their children, husbands, and family;  or else simply a good hug and a couple of kisses would also be equally well.

Todos los años cuando se acerca el día de la madre, mi padre y yo solemos pensar hacer un regalo entre los dos, solemos regalarle flores pero cada año de un tipo diferente, y para este 1 de mayo aún no lo tenemos pensado.

Lo más curioso es que hace poco hemos tenido la típica bronca que se suele tener con una madre pero acabamos fatal, como tenemos el mismo genio, nos gritamos a menudo, pero al fin y al cabo nos queremos mucho y a veces aún que nos cueste aguantarnos, siempre va a ser mi amiga y lo más importante...mi madre.

Ayer, 27 de abril, cuando llegué a casa después de clases, nos saludamos como si no hubiese ocurrido absolutamente nada y pues al menos yo me disculpé. Pensad que por mucho cabreo que llevéis con vuestra madre o padre, ellos son los que nos cuidan y nos han dado de todo para que estemos bien; a veces ellos también se equivocan y no quieren reconocerlo, pero hay que quererles con sus defectos como ellos nos quieren a nosotros con nuestros defectos. No les queda otra porque somos sus hijos.

Every year, on mother's day, my father and I often think of a gift between us, but we usually give her flowers every year a different type, and for this May 1 we have not thought of anything yet.

The strange thing is that recently we had the typical row, usual with a mother but we ended up very upset, as we have the same temper, we often yell at each other, but after all we fondly love although sometimes it is difficult to get along but she will always be my friend and most importantly ... my mother.

Yesterday, April 27, when I got home after school, we greeted as if nothing had happened because at least I apologized, think that no matter the grudge that you can bear with your mother or father, they are the ones you care for us and they do their best to give us everything; sometimes they also make mistakes and do not want to admit it, but you have to love them with their flaws as they love us  with our shortcomings. At least, they have to because we are their children.
